As everyone has watched over the past few weeks, the New York Mets’ front office search has included lots of big names, as well as plenty of people withdrawing their respective names from consideration. But, believe it or not, there is still a wish list of executives the Mets are currently targeting, and it’s seemingly gotten longer on Monday.

MMO’s Michael Mayer recently reported the following about New York’s interest in a couple of assistant general managers from 2021 playoff teams:

The déjà vu from last winter is happening all over again for the Mets. After swinging and missing at some of the sport’s biggest names for their President of Baseball Operations opening, the focus has begun shifting to try and find someone to fill the open position of general manager. This is also on the heels of a report from SNY’s Andy Martino last week that New York has requested to interview another pair of assistant GMs: Daniel Adler of the Minnesota Twins and Raquel Ferreira of the Boston Red Sox.

Flores, a former big-league pitcher with eight years of service under his belt, has been with the Cardinals since 2015. He first joined the organization as the Director of Scouting, replacing the disgraced Chris Correa. He held that post for three years before St. Louis promoted him to his current role in November 2018.

Sestanovich joined the Braves as assistant general manager prior to the 2020 season, with an emphasis of his job being on player development. For the 10 years leading up to this announcement, Sestanovich held several roles for the San Diego Padres, which included being an advance scout, assistant director of player development, and director of player development.
