Needing a replacement for the injured Asdrubal Cabrera, the Mets called upon Matt Reynolds yet again. Reynolds came back up from Vegas with a fury in Tuesday’s 6-5 loss to the Yankees.

With his team trailing by a score of 3-2 at the time, Reynolds came to bat and popped a three-run shot over the wall of Citi. It put the Mets on top for the time being by a score of 5-3, unfortunately for Reynolds and his team that score would not hold up.

“I think when I’m up here, I’m comfortable and get locked in,’’ Reynolds said. “I’m not putting any added pressure on myself.” (NY Post)

In a small sample size of just 47 at-bats he is hitting to a .255/.286/.511 slash line. Reynolds has hit two homers on the year with nine RBI in that same frame. Manager, Terry Collins advises he is sure to see some playing time due to recent injuries.

“He might be one of those guys that says, ‘This is where I want to play,’ and maybe focuses better,” Collins said. “He was slammed into a game in this series where the energy level is pretty high. That was a big hit. He’s gonna get some playing time.”

It seems as though Reynolds will get some sort of shot here to show what he can do. Other than getting some time early on in the season, he has not had an opportunity as of late to play regularly. More of what he did last night would be good to see for this offense.
