According to a report from The Daily News, Matt Harvey will be shut down for the rest of 2014 and will resume rehabbing in the spring by the end of September. Harvey who was determined to pitch again in 2014 will have to wait until 2015 to face live batters according to the report from Kristie Ackert.
Harvey Will throw three more bullpen sessions and then his offseason will begin. Ackert is also reporting that the Mets will use a radar gun to make sure Harvey isn’t throwing at 100% during his final few sessions.
The rehab process for Harvey has been bumpier than most. He has constantly feuded with the front office and coaching staff about how fast he should progress through various stages of rehab. The Mets were forced to slow him down several times, including in June when he was still vying to return to the team in 2015.
What we have to hope is that Harvey comes back strong in 2015. A healthy Harvey will make everything better but if that doesn’t happen, the wedge between the Mets and Harvey could grow even larger.
