Mets catcher Kevin Plawecki belted his first major league home run on Saturday as the Mets beat the Yankees 8-2 in a jam-packed Yankee Stadium that had plenty of Met fans in attendance.

Plawecki  collected his first three career RBIs, capping off a solid 2-for-4 day at the plate.

The Mets rookie blasted a deep two run shot to left field in the fourth inning off CC Sabathia and put the Mets up 5-1 at the time scoring Wilmer Flores who had an RBI single ahead of Plawecki’s at-bat.

Plawecki, 24, then picked up his third RBI in the eighth inning with a line drive single to plate Juan Lagares.

“It’s special, definitely,” Plawecki said. “Getting your first major league home run, it’s a big deal.”

“If you had told me last week I’d be here catching Matt Harvey at Yankee Stadium, I would have said you were lying.”

Mets ace Matt Harvey, who pitched a gem against the Bombers, dominating them for 8 2/3 innings, praised the young backstop’s performance.

“I think he’s obviously the star of the game with the home run and the RBIs that he had. As far as catching, he did an absolutely tremendous job,” said Harvey.

“As the game went on, we had a couple of innings there where we were right on the same page. I let him know that he did a great job.”

Plawecki continues to impress and has fit right in as the team’s starting catcher both on the field and in the clubhouse.
