According to Andy Martino of SNY, Indians’ general manager Mike Chernoff is not a candidate to become part of the Mets new front office.

It had been reported on Thursday that Chernoff was expected to have an interview with the Mets to work under team president Sandy Alderson.

The news leaves former Marlins executive Michael Hill as the only known candidate to interview with the Mets. Though, Rays assistant to the GM Bobby Heck is seen has a strong possibility to join the Mets in some capacity.

The Mets reportedly had their interview requests to Rays’ exec Erik Neander and Brewers’ exec David Stearns declined.

According to my sources, there’s some thought now that the Mets will only bring in one outside person to help run the front office.
