Andy Martino of SNY released an extensive report on the latest industry rumblings regarding the Mets on Thursday. While the lockout is still going on, there can still be discussions on what the team will do once it is over.

Of the many things that Martino mentioned, the most important was that the Mets do not intend to make any more major signings or acquisitions this winter. That being said, the Mets are still looking to improve pitching and the team as a whole. However, those improvements may not be in the form of a Kris Bryant or Clayton Kershaw.

The Mets had previous interest in both left-handed starters Carlos Rodon and Yusei Kikuchi. MMO previously did free agent profiles on both Rodon and Kikuchi.

The Mets’ only lefty right now is David Peterson. With his status for the 2022 season still unknown due to injury, the Mets may be inclined to add another lefty to the rotation.

One name that the Mets may still be able to pursue is Japanese star Seiya Suzuki. However, Peter Gammons reported that the Giants are seen as the most likely landing spot for the outfielder.

Martino also added that the Mets are willing to listen to trade offers on J.D. Davis, Jeff McNeil, and Dominic Smith. These three were discussed as potential trade targets before the lockout, and it seems as though that will continue once the lockout is over.

However, the amount of moves that happen depends on when the lockout finishes. If it ends right before the season, teams will have to scurry to make deals in time for the season. That will probably limit the amount of trades that happen, leading to a scenario where those three remain on the Mets.
