According to Andy Martino of SNY, the Mets are showing interest in former Cubs’ center fielder Albert Almora.

Almora, 26, boasts a career slash line of .271/.309/.398, with a WAR of 2.0 since 2016. For his career, Almora is a +6 DRS in center field over 2,612.1 innings. Almora’s best season came in 2018, when he posted a +10 DRS over 918 innings. The Cubs non-tendered Almora back in December, making him a free agent.

Almora fits previous reports of the Mets shifting their eyes off George Springer, and instead looking to add depth pieces to solidify their roster. Almora is a right-handed batter, making him a potential platoon partner for Brandon Nimmo out in center field.
