Mark Canha will make his return to the Mets on Wednesday, as he’s reinstated from the Covid-19 injured list.

Canha and outfielder Brandon Nimmo were each placed on the injured list on Friday. Nimmo returned and played in the second game of Tuesday’s doubleheader.

The 33-year-old outfielder has enjoyed a hot start to his first season outside of Oakland. Canha is batting .381 with a .500 on-base percentage through six games and 26 at-bats.

Canha’s return will shift Jeff McNeil back to second base and not the left field spot he occupied in Canha’s absence.

The Mets also announced two other moves.

Relief pitcher Jake Reed has been activated from the injured list and was assigned to Syracuse. Utility man Matt Reynolds was designated for assignment.

Reed was held out of Grapefruit League play due to a left oblique strain, and he spent the first two weeks of the regular season on the IL. He made 26 relief appearances at the Triple-A level last year and posted a 5.04 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 30.1 innings.
