Well Mets fans, when it rains it pours.
Marcus Stroman left Tuesday night’s start against the Atlanta Braves after just one inning due to what the team is calling left hip soreness.
Stroman worked through the top of the first quickly, throwing 17 pitches in a scoreless inning. He delivered a 2-0 pitch to Austin Riley leading off the second, and appeared to be in discomfort and grabbing at his left side.
Luis Rojas, Jeremy Hefner and the trainers quickly came out to check on Stroman, and after tossing two warmup pitches and trying to stretch things out a bit he left the game.
This couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Mets as they’ve already lost Joey Lucchesi, Robert Gsellman, and Jeurys Familia to the injured list this week. Currently, the Mets only have three healthy starting pitchers; Jacob deGrom, Taijuan Walker, and David Peterson.
Hopefully for Stroman and the Mets’ sake the hip soreness is nothing too serious. We’ll keep you updated when we learn more from both Stroman and Rojas postgame.
