A Mets farmhand suffered a serious injury in a Gulf Coast League game today. Dominican native Manuel Hilario was injured on a play where he over slid second base and was hit in the head when colliding with the opposing player covering the bag.

Hilario, 22, was unconscious for several minutes before he went into a seizure on the field. He was dazed and did not know where he was once he regained consciousness.

There have been several unconfirmed reports from bystanders that were in attendance however we don’t feel it is appropriate to report on that until we have more information.

Hilario was airlifted to a nearby hospital where they are running further tests on him. The game was suspended indefinitely in the wake of this horrible incident.

Mets VP Paul DePodesta said he could not yet share details other than to say he’s at the hospital, and they’re running further tests on him.

We at Metsmerized wish him a safe and speedy recovery.
