The Mets (12-10) secured another spring win Tuesday evening against the St. Louis Cardinals (10-10) at Clover Park by a score of 3-1. Sean Manaea earned the win, allowing just one run on four hits. The offense notched five hits in the triumph.

Manaea tossed 69 pitches over five innings, recording four strikeouts. The left-hander had a rough first outing with the Mets allowing three runs on seven hits over two and 2/3 innings—but in his past two games since, he has thrown nine innings surrendering just one run, six hits, and three walks, adding five strikeouts. His only run allowed on Tuesday came after he let up a leadoff triple to Ivan Herrera, and with one out, Cesar Prieto singled to score the catcher.

Following his outing, Manaea told SNY: “We’re in a really great spot. From a pitcher’s standpoint, I definitely think this is the best I’ve ever felt in spring training. That is very encouraging—everything is feeling really good.”

Jorge Lopez and Jake Diekman each tossed a scoreless inning in relief, combining for three strikeouts. Yohan Ramirez closed out the final two innings, allowing just one baserunner via walk and recording two strikeouts.

At the plate, the Mets knocked five hits, including a double from Francisco Alvarez and a home run from Brett Baty. The blast was Baty’s second of the spring. He’s slashed .290/.371/.516/.887 in 11 March games. The Mets drew seven walks in this game, too.

One of those was by Jeff McNeil, who played in his first spring training game of the year as the Mets inch closer to their Opening Day lineup. In the final stretch of Grapefruit League play, the Mets will now play straight through the rest of the spring with no days off until the two-day break before Opening Day.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: FRANCISCO ALVAREZ

Francisco Alvarez’s cannon was on full display on Tuesday evening as he continued to nail runners down at second base. Álvarez has caught eight runners stealing this spring in 12 attempts this spring.
