After about three weeks at Triple-A Syracuse, Luisangel Acuña is coming back to the Mets, Jon Heyman of the New York Post and MLB Network reported Thursday. In the corresponding move, the Mets have designated outfielder and recent pitcher Travis Jankowski for assignment.

Right-handed reliever Austin Warren will be the 27th player for Thursday’s doubleheader.

Acuña went 13-for-45 and slashed .289/.346/.378 with two doubles and a triple for Syracuse over a dozen games. He was hitting .241/.293/.283 with no homers, six RBIs and 29 strikeouts in 158 major league plate appearances when he was sent down. He was 11-for-12 stealing bases.

Acuña got off to a hot start when he saw playing time with the Mets last September after Francisco Lindor suffered an injury. He hit three homers and posted a .966 OPS over 14 games.

It was not immediately clear who would be sent down to make room for Acuña. The Mets (53-39) play a split doubleheader with the Orioles (40-50) on Thursday.
