Mets RHP Seth Lugo wasn’t bad Tuesday night, but he wasn’t good. He was okay, pitching well enough to earn his fifth win of the season.
In 6.0 innings he allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits and no walks, striking out only one. He didn’t have his usual good command which hurt him often, leaving balls over the plate. He also did not have his curveball, the pitch that’s usually his bread and butter.
“[My curveballs] just weren’t there tonight, change-up was,” Lugo said after the game. “Overall I think I had a pretty good bad day.”
The Mets gave him a 6-4 lead immediately after he had left the game, a lead held by a brilliant Paul Sewald and a shaky-but-effective Addison Reed.
Lugo is now 5-2 with a 4.10 ERA on the season. In 52.2 innings he has walked 14 and struck out 34.
