The New York Mets announced that first baseman Lucas Duda has been activated off the DL and closer Jeurys Familia has been placed on the 10-day disabled list.

Familia’s disabled list stint is retroactive to May 11, but no word yet on the extend of Familia’s blood clot in his throwing shoulder.

The move restores the Mets bench to five players.

Original Report – May 9

There is some good news on the injury front, as Mets first baseman Lucas Duda appeared in his second rehab game for Single-A St. Lucie on Tuesday.

Duda went 2-for-4 at the plate, including a solo home run in the first inning on a 97 MPH heater that had an exit velocity of 111 MPH. The lefty also struck out twice and drew a walk.

In his first game with St. Lucie on Monday, Duda played five innings, going 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.

On Sunday, Matt Ehalt of The Record reported that Mets general manager Sandy Alderson hopes for Duda to return in a week or so.

Duda has been sidelined since April 21, when he was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a hyperextended left elbow he suffered in a collision at first base.

At the time of his injury, Duda had gone 10-for-42 (.238 average) in 13 games.
