wreathMerry Christmas everyone.

I’m away until tomorrow but thought I’d check in on my trusty laptop, which is never too far away.

It looks like things progressed somewhat between the Mets and Derek Lowe on Wednesday, but as of this morning still no deal.

ESPN’s Buster Olney believes it will happen sometime between now and New Years day.

Cafardo from the Boston Globe has some numbers he believes are being exchanged.

The deal is believed to be four years in length, or three years with a vesting option. The contract is estimated to be worth between $14-16 million per season. Lowe just finished up a four year, $36 million deal with the Dodgers.

I believe that the the Yankees signing of Mark Teixeira may put some added pressure on Omar Minaya to deliver more than he originally intended.

It may not be far fetched to believe that the Mets may sign Derek Lowe AND Oliver Perez.

If that is indeed the case, it would cure many anxieties going into the 2009 season. One could argue that a rotation of Johan Santana, Derek Lowe, Oliver Perez, John Maine and Mike Pelfrey, would be the best in the NL.

Here’s to seeing it come to fruition.

Enjoy the day!
