Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor exited Friday night’s game against the Pirates with what the Mets reported to be “right-side soreness.” In the top of the fifth inning, Lindor pulled a grounder that met the shift behind first base, but it appeared as if he did not even try to advance to first base. He was seen with a look of pain on his face after he swung and did not advance to first.

Luis Guillorme replaced Lindor at shortstop in the bottom half of the fifth.

No word from the Mets as of this writing how long Lindor might be out of action. Lindor’s injury comes on the same day that J.D. Davis made his return. The Mets still have not their opening day starting team together for weeks.

Although slumping badly at the plate, Lindor has, nevertheless, been a steady force in the infield. Even before his injury on Friday, he made a diving play in the first inning to thwart a potential Pirates’ rally.
