Yesterday, Matt Cerrone over at MetsBlog asked “Where is Aaron Heilman?”
My answer is…
Who cares!
Leave him in the damn doghouse where he belongs!
Last night, Aaron Heilman made his first appearance in almost a week. He immediately walked the first batter he faced, bringing the tying run to the plate. One batter later he grooved a pitch to Christian Guzman who launched it into the night sky to tie the game.
Aaron Heilman has become a liability. We cannot afford to have him risk blowing any future games with only 17 left to play.
The last thing we need right now is Aaron Heilman and his inflated 5.38 ERA adding to his eight losses and five blown saves totals. He has allowed ten homers to lead all Mets relievers, and also has given up the most walks with 41 in just 72 innings pitched.
Should the Mets make the playoffs, they should strongly consider leaving Aaron Heilman off the post season roster.
