With the All-Star teams being named earlier today and only one Met, Billy Wagner, being on the roster with David Wright potentially being voted in with MLB’s LAST VOTE, this could be an opportune time for the remaining players on the Mets to get their heads together, re-group, and make a strong push for the playoffs in the second half of this season. If the score holds after this rain delay today, coupled with a win tomorrow, New York will have gained three games on Philadelphia bringing them within 2.5 games of the lead in the N.L. East.

Following this series with Philly, the Mets play San Francisco and Colorado at home, then break for the All-Star Game and open with a series against the Reds. This potentially will be an opportune time to make a run against some of the National Leagues weaker opponents.

So while teams like the Cubs and Red Sox send half their team to the Bronx next week, just keep in mind the Mets will be home resting, hopefully hungry, for the second half to begin. It’s a whole new season after the All-star break, and when Alou, Pagan and Castillo return from the DL in the upcoming weeks, the Orange and Blue will finally be healthy and balanced, and ready to take on any opponent.

Keep the faith Met fans….YA GOTTA BELIEVE!!!!

Comment from Joe D. – I just put a banner link at the top of the site to vote for David Wright for the All-Star Game. Vote the maximum number of times and let’s get David on this years National League squad. Thanks!
