Kris Bryant

Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant was named National League Rookie of the Year by the Baseball Writers Association of America. Astros shortstop Carlos Correa won the award in the American League.

Bryant won the award unanimously, beating out Matt Duffy of the Giants who finished second. Pirates infielder Jung Ho Kang finished third, and Mets right-hander Noah Syndergaard finished fourth.

Bryant, 23, batted .275/.369/.488 with 31 doubles, 26 home runs and 13 stolen bases with an .858 OPS this season for the Cubs and played solid defense at third base.

Correa, 20, batted .279/.345/.512 with 22 doubles, 22 homers, 14 steals and a .857 OPS in 99 games for the Astros.

Syndergaard, 22, had a great rookie season for the Mets, posting a 3.34 ERA and 1.042 WHIP in 150 innings pitched with 166 strikeouts and 31 walks.

The hard-throwing righty also impressed in the postseason, appearing in four games including three starts and tossing 19 innings with a 3.32 ERA and 1.211 WHIP while striking out 26 batters.
