According to Tim Healey of Newsday reports that the Mets have scratched Kodai Senga from his start tonight against the Nationals in West Palm Beach. The Mets say Senga is dealing with discomfort at the base of his right index finger. John Curtiss will start in his place.

Senga was slated to make his second Grapefruit League start after going two innings allowing run one and striking out two against the Cardinals on March 5.

The Mets signed the Japanese star right-hander to a five-year, $75 million during the offseason to join Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander, Jose Quintana, and Carlos Carrasco in what’s expected to be one of the best rotations in baseball.

The Mets are already dealing with an injury to starter Jose Quintana. He was diagnosed with a small stress fracture on his fifth rib on his left side.

The Mets do have rotation depth with David Peterson, Tylor Megill, and Joey Lucchesi all having solid springs and major-league experience.
