After a deflating sweep in Atlanta, the Mets are 0-5 on this current road trip which wraps up with three games in Milwaukee against the Brew Crew beginning on Tuesday.

The offense has struggled all season long, but it has reached its apex on this road trip which has seen them score just six runs in the five games.

The Mets are averaging just 2.94 runs per game on the road this season.

Matt Ehalt of the Record caught up with Mets hitting coach Kevin Long, who addressed the team’s current offensive woes.

“Just going through a tough spell. There are times where we have to fight through it, it happens to every team at some point. Unfortunately we’re going through it right now.”

“Sometimes you look for a day off and right now we could use a day off and regroup. The guys are struggling and scuffling and going through it together and it will get better.”

Manager Terry Collins defended Long, saying:

“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the approach. We’re not squaring any balls up. That’s my issue more than anything, is we’re not getting balls to drive.”

Currently, the Mets have only one active hitter batting over .275 and that’s catcher Travis d’Arnaud who is hitting .296 in 19 games this season.
