The New York Mets (40-33) defeated the Atlanta Braves (25-49) by a score of 1-0 tonight at Turner Field. With the win and a Nationals loss, the Mets now find themselves just 2.0 games out of first place.

Pitching:

Jacob deGrom toed the rubber for the Mets tonight, and pitched another gutsy performance, but was able to keep the Braves in check for the entirety of the night.

All in all, deGrom tossed eight scoreless innings, scattering eight hits, and striking out six while walking one. However, deGrom will have to settle for another winless outing, as the Mets were unable to provide any offensive support for the righty.

Jerry Blevins faced Freddie Freeman to kick off the ninth, and quickly allowed a hit before turning the ball over to Addison Reed, who finished off the inning.

Jeurys Familia, despite pitching a scoreless 11th, induced some sweats as usual, but he did get the job done and recorded his 26th save of the year.

Offense:

Oh, Julio Teheran, you’ve haunted my dreams as of late. After one hitting the Mets just last week, Teheran pitched eight scoreless innings again tonight, striking out seven and allowing five hits.

Despite Teheran and committee keeping the Mets scoreless until the eleventh, Kelly Johnson finally broke the silence against his former team, giving the Mets a 1-0 lead with a solo shot, which they would hold on to and eventually win the game.

On deck:

Bartolo Colon (6-3, 3.00 ERA) takes the mound for the Mets tomorrow in the series finale at Turner Field, and will be opposed by Bud Norris (2-7, 4.69 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 PM.
