Mickey Callaway spoke to reporters before Wednesday night’s game against the Atlanta Braves and said that Justin Wilson has been shut down for the time being, but is not going back to square one despite the setback.

Wilson, 31, was scratched from what was supposed to be his second rehab appearance with the Brooklyn Cyclones on Tuesday with left elbow tightness.

The left-handed reliever has been on the 10-day IL twice for this injury and will now have to spend even more time on the shelf.

In three rehab appearances split between the Brooklyn Cyclones and Syracuse Mets, Wilson allowed one run, four hits, and no walks while striking out six batters in three innings of work.

The Mets signed Wilson to a two-year, $10 million contract during the offseason, but so far he has only made 10 appearances for the team registering a 1-1 record, 4.82 ERA, 5.95 FIP, 1.393 WHIP, and nine strikeouts in 9 1/3 innings pitched.
