On Christmas Day, I wrote a blog that talked about the aftermath of the Mark Teixeira signing by the Yankees.

I felt that it just might not be such a bad thing for Mets fans. Here is what I wrote in that blog post

I believe that the the Yankees signing of Mark Teixeira may put some added pressure on Omar Minaya to deliver more than he originally intended.

It may not be far fetched to believe that the Mets may sign Derek Lowe AND Oliver Perez.

If that is indeed the case, it would cure many anxieties going into the 2009 season. One could argue that a rotation of Johan Santana, Derek Lowe, Oliver Perez, John Maine and Mike Pelfrey, would be the best in the NL.

Here’s to seeing it come to fruition.

Today, Buster Olney of ESPN is suggesting the same thing, and it has now gone viral throughout the Mets blogosphere. Here is what Buster said…

So the Mets can sit back and pluck the best of the starting pitchers, at their price, just as they did with K-Rod; in this case, their choices are likely (1) Oliver Perez, (2) Lowe or (3) Randy Wolf. Heck, the Mets might find themselves in a position to take advantage of a two-for-one sale.

Let’s see if me and Olney called this one right… I hope so…
