Juan, Uribe

According to an article from Adam Rubin at ESPN NY, manager Terry Collins advised that Juan Uribe will more than likely not be available to the team if they advance to the NLCS. The veteran infielder has yet to resume any baseball activities at this time.

Uribe, who was part of the turnaround for the Mets offense during the last two months of this season, has played a key role for the team since his arrival from Atlanta along with Kelly Johnson. Juan is also no stranger to the postseason, playing in 44 games while with the San Francisco Giants, Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers.

He originally injured himself back on September 20th, while diving for a ball at second base. While making that dive, Uribe suffered cartilage damage to his chest. The injury at first was not thought to be too serious but has shown to be much more troublesome since than first thought.

Uribe would have provided some solid right-handed offense off the bench had he been able to perform in the postseason. He was replaced on the roster by Kirk Nieuwenhuis.

Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery for Juan.
