Juan Lagares had a monster day at the plate Thursday, hitting two home runs including a Grand Slam in the Mets 11-1 win over the Diamondbacks. Overall, he went 2-for-4 with two home runs and a career-high six RBIs on the day.

The 30-year-old Lagares, usually in for defense, started for the second day in a row as the Diamondbacks threw left-handed starters on Wednesday and Thursday. Lagares went 1-for-4 with a double Wednesday.

Lagares couldn’t think of another time in his entire baseball career – including little league – ever hitting a grand slam, “that’s a special moment for me in my career.”

Juan Lagares is just the third Met to record a six-RBI game at Citi Field, joining Wilmer Flores (Sept. 16, 2014) and Yoenis Cespedes (April 29, 2016). He joins Cespedes as the only Mets center fielders with two-home-run six-RBI games.

The Gold-Glover is now hitting .216/.280/.336 with five home runs on the season.
