New York Mets outfielder Juan Lagares made his Dominican Winter League season debut for the Aguilas Cibaenas on Tuesday night.

Lagares batted sixth and played the entire game in center field. He went 2 for 3 with a sacrifice fly, both hits were line drive singles. His first hit came off lefty Frank Garces and the second against right-hander Rafael De Paula.

On the defensive side, he threw out a runner at home plate trying to score on a base hit.

Lagares had been playing in the parallel league over the past two weeks to get ready for his regular start last night. He was added to the weekly roster on Monday and is expected to play through the end of the Dominican winter league action.

He played in only 79 games and had just 142 at-bats during the 2016 regular season for the Mets. He hit .239/.301/.380 with seven doubles, two triples, and nine runs batted in.
