On Friday, the Mets made a flurry of roster moves in order to activate starting pitcher José Quintana from the injured list following his fifth rehab start. These moves included designating lefty reliever, T.J. McFarland, for assignment and will be sending David Peterson to the bullpen as well.

José Quintana, who is coming back from rib surgery, is set to make his Mets debut within the next week as he just finished his nearly month long rehab outing. On Saturday Quintana threw 4 1/3 innings during his final rehab outing for the Syracuse Mets in Triple-A where he gave up five runs on four hits. While Jose struggled in his five rehab starts, posting a 4.60 ERA and 1.40 WHIP, he should be able to at the very least give the Mets some much needed innings as they try to preserve their bullpen.

Quintana is expected to make his Mets debut on Wednesday against the White Sox.

The fallout of the Quintana activation effected the bullpen as David Peterson will now find himself in a later inning role after a couple of impressive outings since being called back up from Syracuse.

Peterson has gone a total of 15 1/3 innings while giving up only giving up four earned runs in his last three starts. Although he has not been in the bullpen this season, the lefty has some experience as he was moved to the bullpen during the stretch run of the 2022 season.

McFarland pitched in three games for the Mets, giving up one run on four hits in 1 2/3 innings.
