Assistant GM John Ricco was on MLB Network Radio today and said the following:

“We’re monitoring the pitching market. I think it’s no secret we’re still interested in bringing in possibly another arm or two. So, even in the next few weeks, we’re going to be continuing to see how that develops.”

“We’ve kind of had in mind adding a starter. But that market is still kind of…we’re not sure where that will be.”

Recently, the Mets have been connected to various starting pitching options and the Mets continue to confirm that they are involved in that market.

The Mets have been linked to Lance Lynn and Alex Cobb, but Ken Rosenthal recently reported that it is unlikely they would pursue those two seriously and instead would look into the next tier of starters.

Some options in that group include Jeremy Hellickson, Jason Vargas, Ubaldo Jimenez, John Lackey, and Andrew Cashner.

Mets manager, Mickey Callaway, said yesterday that they believe that they are “8-10 deep,” but after last year’s mess in the rotation, the team could certainly use at least one more rotation option.

One thing that was unclear from this was whether or not the team planned to pursue another reliever. The Mets currently could use another left-hander, with Jerry Blevins being the only option on the 40-man roster.
