Jeff Wilpon spoke about the Mets’ decision to hire Luis Rojas as their new manager and said that Steve Cohen had no involvement in the decision.

The Wilpons and Saul Katz have reportedly been in the process of transferring 80% of the team’s ownership to Cohen, so it is certainly worth noting although Jeff did say that nothing has changed with regards to the potential sale of the team.

Mike Puma of the New York Post reported earlier this week that Mets’ officials, GM Brodie Van Wagenen in particular, were feeling pressured to make a hire that would be viewed as positive in the eyes of Cohen.
