Jeff McNeil played in the first game of a doubleheader for the Brooklyn Cyclones on Friday going 1-for-4 with a single in his first at-bat. He later reached on an error in the third inning, where he would come around to score thanks to a wild pitch.

McNeil, 27, started the game in right field, but shifted to third base in the fifth inning. That means he played four innings in right field and three innings at third, since they only played seven innings for each game of a doubleheader.

It was McNeil’s first game with Brooklyn as he originally started with the Triple-A Syracuse Mets on Thursday, but shifted to the Class A Short Season affiliate on Friday as reported by our own Jacob Resnick.

Before shifting to Brooklyn, McNeil only played one game for Syracuse in which the game was suspended after just one inning. But much like he did in the major, McNeil made an impact by getting hit by the pitch, stealing second base, and later scoring the game’s lone run.

McNeil has been on the injured list since August 14 with a tight hamstring and is eligible to be activated on Saturday against the Braves at Citi Field, but no decision has been made thus far as to when he will be activated.

The 27-year-old McNeil is hitting .332/.400/.529 with 31 doubles, 15 homers, and 55 RBI in 105 games this year for the Mets.
