According to our own Jacob Resnick, the Mets will shift the rehab assignment of Jeff McNeil from Triple-A Syracuse to Short-Season Brooklyn.

Brandon Nimmo is leading off and playing center field tonight for the Syracuse Mets.

The Cyclones have a doubleheader today with the first game starting at 4:35 p.m. ET in Connecticut.

McNeil started his rehab on Thursday night with Syracuse though the game was suspended after just one inning. He led off the game getting hit by a pitch, stole second, and eventually scored. He was playing right field and Mets manager Mickey Callaway said the plan was for the flying squirrel to play both corner outfield spots.

McNeil has been on the injured list since August 14 with a tight hamstring and is eligible to be activated on Saturday against the Braves at Citi Field.

The 27-year-old McNeil is hitting .332/.400/.529 with 31 doubles, 15 homers, and 55 RBI in 105 games this year for the Mets.
