After Sandy Alderson traded Dilson Herrera to the Cincinnati Reds for outfielder Jay Bruce, he was greeted by a slump and, in turn, ambivalence from the fan base. Since then, he had become a fan-favorite before being traded back to Ohio, this time to the Cleveland Indians.

Many fans are calling for his re-signing this offseason, and with the ambiguity of Michael Conforto‘s injury, it has become a hot topic. MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo reported that when asked if he would consider a reunion with the Mets, Bruce replied, “absolutely.”

“We’ll see what happens,” Bruce said.

Bruce, 30, is in the midst of perhaps his best offensive season. In 103 games with the Mets before his dismissal, he had hit .256/.321/.520 with 29 home runs and 74 RBIs while playing a solid right field. He is thriving in Cleveland, having hit .311/.391/.590 with four home runs and 13 RBIs in 17 games since the trade.
