Jacob deGrom continues to add to an illustrious resume as he has been nothing less than stellar since returning to the team this season. He’s continued to establish himself as quite possibly the greatest pitcher of our generation.

On Wednesday evening, deGrom led the Mets to their second victory of the day as he pitched seven scoreless innings while striking out eight batters and only allowing three hits on the night. In his return from his injury, this season deGrom has posted 63 strikeouts in 43 1/3 innings while maintaining a 1.66 ERA. During that stretch, he has a whopping 63 strikeouts compared to only four walks.

Since making his season debut on August 2, deGrom is tied for the major league lead for starters with his 2.0 fWAR.  He leads the league with his 41.3 K% and 0.55 WHIP as well.

It was the 18th shutout win for the Mets this season and a much-needed victory to help them get back on track. DeGrom now sits second in MLB with the most consecutive starts allowing fewer than four runs and eight hits. Below is another stat with which deGrom is within history as well.

DeGrom has been lights out for the Mets this season at a time where they need him most. Career-wise, deGrom has been on a level that not many other pitchers can reach.

In 205 of deGrom’s starts, the Mets ace has had 152 quality starts. On top of that, he has not allowed any more than two earned runs in 150 starts. To continue on that trend, deGrom has allowed one or no runs in 101 of those starts.

At 34 years old, Jacob deGrom is already looking back on an incredible career. From his historic trends to his career averages. In his career, he has a 2.47 ERA with 1,568 strikeouts. He’s currently 2nd in MLB history when it comes to who has the best career WHIP (0.996) as he continues on his Hall of Fame trajectory.

With the NL East crown on the line and Max Scherzer expected to miss a couple of starts, the Mets will have to rely on deGrom now more than ever to help carry them across the finish line.
