deGrom Jacob

Mets right-hander Jacob deGrom has been named the National League Co-Player of the Week along with Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers.

In two starts this past week, deGrom went 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA while walking three and striking out 18 in 15 innings pitched.

During one of those starts in San Diego, deGrom took a no-hitter into the sixth inning until he surrendered a leadoff single to Clint Barmes. He finished with eight scoreless innings, allowing two hits and no walks while striking out eight in a 105-pitch effort.

During his rookie campaign in 2014, deGrom earned one Player of the Week honor and was named Player of the Month for July and September.

Overall this season, deGrom is 7-4 with a 2.42 ERA, 2.73 FIP, and 1.00 WHIP in 12 starts for the Mets.

In 78.0 innings pitched he has racked up 81 strikeouts while issuing just 16 walks, two of which were intentional.

A well-deserved honor for one of the National League’s top young pitchers. Congratulations to Jacob!
