Mets ace Jacob deGrom continued to solidify his place atop the rotation on Friday night with another incredible start – and his sixth straight win.

In 8.0 innings against the powerful Rockies lineup, deGrom allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk, striking out 11.

“Jake is on a roll right now and the team is comfortable when he pitches. You know he’s going to get us deep into a game and I think it leads to increased offense.”

In six starts since his two consecutive horrible outings, deGrom has been lights out going 6-0 with a 1.53 ERA. In 47.0 innings he has allowed only 27 hits and nine walks and has struck out 47.

“I was walking a lot of people early on,” he said. “I have got a better feel for a changeup. I think it’s a little more confidence and throwing a changeup when I need to because I went away from it early.”

Jacob worked at least 7.0 innings for a sixth straight start. The only other starters in the majors this season to work at least 7.0 innings in six straight starts are Dallas Keuchel (seven straight starts from April 3-May 5), Max Scherzer (six straight from May 26-June 21), Michael Fulmer (six straight from May 5-June 2) and Chris Sale (six straight from April 5-May 2).

This was also his seventh double-digit strikeout game this season with his 11 strikeout performance  last night, extending his single-season career-high.

It was deGrom’s fifth game this season with 11 or more strikeouts, tied for third-most in the majors with Tampa Bay’s Chris Archer. He trails only Washington’s Max Scherzer (seven games) and Boston’s Chris Sale (six games).

“We got a job to do here,” deGrom said. “That’s how you look at it. You never know what’s going to happen. You come here and get ready to play the game every day, prepare the same way you have… Not worry about that other stuff.”

On the season, deGrom is now 10-3 with a 3.48 ERA, 3.75 FIP, and 1.176 WHIP in 119.0 innings. He has struck out 141 (third in NL and fifth most in MLB) and walked 39.
