Here we go!

WFAN is reporting that the Mets have called up 23–year-old Ike Davis and that he will be in uniform tonight when the Mets play the Cubs at Citi Field.

According to the Buffalo Bisons, Ike Davis had been removed from today’s starting lineup and was informed of his promotion.

Kevin Burkhardt believes Ike Davis will be in tonight’s lineup.

To all who asked: I’m sure Ike will be starting. I’ll send out the lineup when I get it later.

Can I get a HELLZ YEAH!

Ike Davis is hitting cleanup for the Buffalo Bisons today which kind of supports what Jon Heyman said earlier in a post to Twitter

Heyman said that he did not believe Ike would get the call today, but he does believe it will be soon and that the Mets are settled on the issue of bringing him up.

Acording to Adam Rubin, the promotion could come on Tuesday instead of today.

According to Adam Rubin from ESPN NY, the Mets will callup their prized prospect Ike Davis to take over as the everyday first baseman for the Mets.

Mets officials have resolved to promote heralded prospect Ike Davis to Citi Field this week, team sources told ESPNNewYork.com.

First baseman Mike Jacobs was designated for assignment so the Mets could promote fresh-armed right-hander Tobi Stoner from Triple-A Buffalo for Sunday night’s ESPN-televised game. The Mets are now carrying 13 pitchers, but plan to reduce an arm and promote a position player once the bullpen is rested.

Wow, here we go… Let’s hope he is up for the task and that he rewards all of us with a breakthrough debut and a run at the Rookie of the Year award. How awesome would that be!

Davis, 23, was in the midst of a seven-game hitting streak with Buffalo and is hitting .364 with two homers and four RBIs in 33 at-bats.

He comes with a great reputation on defense and would be the first lefty-throwing staple at first base for the Mets since John Olerud in 1999.

I’m pretty excited, wow, I can’t wait to see him take the field for the first time. I usually don’t get so giddy over a Mets prospect as most of you know, but I have a hunch Ike will be something special.
