David Wright

Playing for the St. Lucie Mets Tuesday night, David Wright served as designated hitter and went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. He also reached on an error in his first action since 2016.

While most people remember his back and neck issues, Wright has actually been on the 60-day disabled list since spring training with a right shoulder impingement. It is possible he returns to the Major Leagues this September in a limited pinch-hitting role.

Jeurys Familia

Closer Jeurys Familia, pitching for the Brooklyn Cyclones, threw a perfect inning Tuesday as he works at a return from surgery to repair a blood clot in his pitching shoulder. In three rehab innings he has struck out four batters, walked two and allowed one hit.

Familia was 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA and 3.56 FIP in 9.1 innings before his injury. He will have to fight with new Mets reliever AJ Ramos for the closer role upon his return.

Noah Syndergaard

Working his way back from a torn lat muscle which he sustained in May, Noah Syndergaard will throw live batting practice on Wednesday. In five starts before his injury, he had a 3.29 ERA and stellar 1.12 FIP in 27.1 innings, striking out 32 and walking only two.

Matt Harvey

Lastly, Terry Collins said Tuesday that the Mets expect to see Matt Harvey pitching in the Major Leagues again in early September. His last appearance was Monday with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies when he pitched three innings, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out three. His fastball ranged from 89-93 mph while a scout told Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports that his breaking ball wasn’t very good and he seemed to be struggling with his release point.

Before his injury, Harvey was 4-3 with a 5.25 ERA and 6.17 FIP in 13 starts, striking out 54 and walking 35 in 70.1 innings.
