According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports on Twitter, the Cleveland Indians and Juan Uribe are in agreement on a major league deal, pending a physical.
Buster Olney of ESPN.com also reports on Twitter that the deal is worth a little under $5 million.
Uribe, 37, came over to the Mets along with Kelly Johnson in exchange for prospects John Gant and Robert Whalen last July to bolster the offense for the stretch run.
Uribe batted .219/.301/.430 in 143 at-bats in his short Mets career, but what he brought to the team was a locker room presence that most certainly helped the young guys and contributed to a winning atmosphere.
A reunion between the Mets and the 15 year veteran would have been nice, but with the addition of Asdrubal Cabrera to go along with incumbents Ruben Tejada and Wilmer Flores, their was a log jam of middle infielders.
Uribe figures to see a good amount of playing time at the hot corner for the Tribe, and despite being in the latter portion of his career, his glove has remained stellar.
