edwin-encarnacion

According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports on Twitter, the Cleveland Indians have struck a deal with free agent stud Edwin Encarnacion on a three-year deal with an option.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports also tweets that the deal is worth a guaranteed $65 million with a $5 million option buyout.

Encarnacion, 34 on Opening Day, has spent the last eight seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays, appearing in three all-star games, including this past year where he also lead the American League in RBIs.

Encarnacion clubbed 42 homers for the Jays last season and drove in 127 runs, while hitting at a .263/.357/.529 clip.

MLBTradeRumors.com ranked Encarnacion as the second best free agent right behind Yoenis Cespedes, and predicted Encarnacion would ink a four-year, $92 million deal with the Boston Red Sox, but will take his talents to the reigning American League champs.
