Ike Davis

WFAN’s Mike Francesa said today, that Ike Davis wants out. Francesa said he spoke with Davis during the All Star break and Ike said he wanted to leave. The former Met first rounder believes the fans have given up on him and the team has given up on him. (Hat tip to Julie)

Adam Rubin got the sense that Ike Davis is a goner after a Mets insider told him today, that teams view him as a decent bet for power with a change of scenery.

If I were a team in search of a low risk, high reward first baseman with power potential, I’d be all over Ike Davis…

The Astros, Orioles, Rays, Brewers and Rockies all have checked in on him, but the ‘Stros don’t see themselves as a fit for a deal with the Mets.

The Mets could just delay their decision and wait until deep into the offseason before making a trade in hopes that the limited power market will make Davis more attractive.

I think it’s just time for a change of scenery for Ike and I don’t think he’ll ever realize his potential with the Mets.

Last week, the Mets and Brewers discussed a possible Ike Davis trade in exchange for Norichika Aoki. But the Brewers had no interest and prefer to keep Aoki who is set to earn a team friendly $2 million in 2014.

Over the last three seasons, Davis has seen his OPS decline from .995 to .771 to .661 while his strikeout rate has climbed all the way to a 33 percent.
