Mets take over the Phils with a 4-3 win to tie up the series. Mike Pelfrey had a great start going into the eighth inning only giving up two runs. Three bullpen pitches combined for two outs before Takahashi gets another save. Ike Davis goes 4-4 with 3 RBIs and Jose Reyes hits his ninth homerun of the season.

Game Summary

Mike Pelfrey makes a strong attempt to become next season’s number two starter as he makes a nice start today against the Phillies. Pelfrey made it into the eighth inning, going 7.1 innings, he gave up two runs on six hits and zero walks. He struck out five batters as well. Pelfrey continues to have an up and down season, but receives his franchise leading, 14th win of the season.

Bobby Parnell, the team’s new setup man, pitched to one batter in the eighth inning and gave up one run on one hit. C’mon Bobby! Lefty specialist, Pedro Feliciano, got his one out of the inning after giving up one hit. Manny Acosta rounded out the eighth inning with a strikeout.

The Mets “fearless” closer, Hisanori Takahashi, got his sixth save of the season, pitching a scoreless ninth inning, only giving up one hit. He better be around next season. Who needs K-Rod?

Mets only scored four runs, despite tallying up eleven hits on the game. The Mets were 3-10 with RISP and left 10 men on base, but were able to have two players have multiple hit games and a homerun from Jose Reyes.

Jesus Feliciano had a good night as he had two hits in the game and scored two runs. Ike Davis had the other multiple hit game as he went 4-4 with three RBIs. Something has gotten into Ike lately, and I am loving it.

Two Mets hitters were really trigger happy as Angel Pagan who had four at-bats, only saw six pitches. Also Lucas Duda had two at-bats and only saw the first pitch in each at-bat before getting out.

Turning Point

Whenever Ike Davis came up to the plate pretty much.
