New York Mets shortstop of the future, Amed Rosario will not be going anywhere anytime soon. Marc Carig of Newsday spoke with sources related to the team who advised that the top prospect is in their future plans.

Rosario, who was recently promoted to Double-A Binghamton is well on his way to becoming a major league ballplayer in Queens. Prior to his promotion he was hitting to a 309/.359/.442 slash line. To go along with that impressive line he has hit three homers with 40 RBI in 66 games with Class A St. Lucie. One scout spoke quite highly of the prized prospect.

“He makes all plays look easy, even tough ones,” the scout said. “Swings the bat, makes adjustments with breaking pitches.”

Rosario is the type of player this team will need going forward to continue what has quickly become a strong young nucleus of players who can contribute for years to come. Since his promotion to Binghamton, Rosario is 6-for-13 with two doubles and two RBI. Mets director of minor-league operations, Ian Levin thought the time was right to move Rosario to Double-A after performing quite well over a period of time.

“We debated for a while when was the appropriate time to do it,” Levin said. “But it just came down to now he’s shown us exactly what we wanted to see and it was time to challenge him at the next level. The ability started to become production in games.”

To watch the progression of Rosario will be interesting to watch over the seasons to come. It will be interesting to see if the Mets look to get him up for the 2018 season, after incumbent shortstop, Asdrubal Cabrera‘s contract expires with the team. Rosario has seemed to be an exciting player to watch with a great head on his shoulders. It will be great to see him in a Mets uniform at Citi Field soon enough.
