Cincy, LA Still Discussing Deal
According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Cincinnati Reds “continue to talk” about a deal that has been gaining steam over the last 48 hours.
On Wednesday, Rosenthal reported initial contact between the two teams, suggesting that Homer Bailey was being considered a candidate to head to Los Angeles with outfielder Yasiel Puig and left-hander Alex Wood being mentioned as possible players heading back in the trade.
On Thursday, Rosenthal added outfielder Matt Kemp to the list of names being discussed, and noted that the “deal is still not considered close”.
Padres Hitting Infield Market Hard
In another report from Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the San Diego Padres are said to be exploring the market via trade or free agency to add a “utility infielder who can play [shortstop] until [Fernando Tatis Jr.] is ready, then move around”.
He lists Arizona’s Nick Ahmed — naming him a “favorite” of Friars’ skipper Andy Green –, general manager A.J. Preller’s “favorite”, Texas infielder Jurickson Profar, and free agent Daniel Descalso as potential candidates.
Rosenthal added, “per [Dennis Lin of The Athletic], [the] Padres also have interest in free agent Marwin Gonzalez, who would be the best — and most expensive — of this group”.

After trading right-handed starter Tanner Roark to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for right-handed reliever Tanner Rainey on Thursday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic is reporting that the Nationals have “kicked around” the idea of bringing aboard right-hander Anibal Sanchez as a possible replacement.
