Game Summary

With the return of Beltran and Reyes, the Mets continue undefeated. Dickey pitched through a rough three run inning, bullpen was great, and some select few offensive players led the team to victory with a walk-off homerun from Pagan in extras. Mets in 6-5 in 10 innings.

Game Notes

Dickey must be thanking his lucky stars that the Mets still have Beltran tonight. With the backup of his offense, he survived the rocky third inning where he allowed three hurtful runs. Dicky with 93 pitches finished 6.1 innings with 8 hits and four runs. One run and four Ks round out his line. A no decision but his ERA rests at 3.80. Not the Dickey of yesteryear, but a decent pitcher.

Byrdak got his one out on one pitch. Beato got his one out on three pitches. Parnell looking to be the closer, gave up two hits and one run along with a walk and a K. IZZY! Wow! Two scoreless innings and struck out Pujols, Holliday, and Berkman in order. Say hello to your new closer this year.

Tonight’s offense was lead by a hitting pitcher, a new father, and a vet on borrowed time. Dickey had two hits and his first RBI, Thole had two hits, a double, two RBIs, and a run scored (all one day after his son, Camden, was born), and Carlos Beltran had one hit, a two-run bomb, and a walk. Of course, Angel Pagan had the walk-off homerun to win it in extras.

Reyes went 0-5 with a run. Turner, Murphy, and Duda each had one hit, and two walks for Duda.

Jason Bay left the game after three innings with tightness in his right hamstring. His replacement, Harris, went 0-3.

Beltran had Philly scouts in the ballpark again watching him. Him playing well has become a double-edge sword. The better he plays the more the Phillies want him. And the more they want him, the more the Phillies are willing to trade for him.

Justin Turner tweeted seven minutes after the Mets won. Dedication to his fans.

A fan ran on the field in the sixth. SNY did not show it, but at least we know they didn’t taze him. Here’s looking at you Philly scouts.

David Wright played in his sixth ML rehab game tonight for St. Lucie (A). He went 2-2 with two singles, two walks and a run scored. ETA is Friday.
