Lucas Duda (.232/.351/.426) and Matt den Dekker (.245/.315/.326) might be playing Winter Ball this offseason, according to ESPN New York. Woo freaking hoo…

If either of these two players are starting players for us in 2014, I may just puke. We have to stop settling for mediocrity and insist on better quality players for this team. Aside from Daniel Murphy and David Wright, none of our position players would be playing everyday for most major league teams.

After three years under Sandy, I’m tired of seeing fringe players being made out to be something more than they are. Of the two, den Dekker has some value as a fourth outfielder. Duda on the other hand, has no business owning a glove.

He can take his hollow .351 OBP to the American League for all I care. Sorry, I know that there’s a lot of Duda fans out there, but he’ll be 28 in February and he is not a prospect. The last two seasons were supposed to be his PEAK years… Time to move on from Duda and Ike Davis as well…

Either go sign Jose Abreu or give Wilmer Flores a full year at first base and lets end this BS already… Enough is enough…

Speaking of Flores, he could start seeing more time at second base beginning on Sunday in the series finale against the Phillies, according to Terry Collins.

Flores burst out of the gate for the Mets when he was first called up, but has been hobbled by a sore ankle that has taken it’s toll on his batting average. He is still playing at less than 80% and is not yet fully healed. Flores also said he will not play Winter Ball this offseason so he can concentrate on early workouts in preparation for next Spring.
