Red Sox prospect Yoan Moncada hit the go-ahead, two-run homer in the eighth inning as the World Team beat Team USA by the score of 11-3 in the All-Star Futures Game on Sunday.

Moncada, the top ranked MLB prospect, took home the Futures Game MVP Award as the World team snapped a six-game losing streak in the top prospects showcase.

New York Mets prospects Dilson Herrera and Amed Rosario were not in the starting lineup, but each had a solid showing off the bench for the World Team. Herrera went 1-for-2 with an RBI single and a run scored, while teammate Rosario went 1-for-2 and also scored a run in the contest while flashing some leather on a slick play at shortstop.

Mets No. 1 prospect Dominic Smith started at first base and went 0-for-4 with an RBI for the Red, White and Blue. But he did entertain the fans at Petco Park when he blasted a bunch of monstrous home runs in batting practice.

Original Report

The SiriusXM All Star Futures Game will take place today at San Diego’s Petco Park at 7 p.m. (ET) and will air on MLB Network.

Representing the Mets will be shortstop Amed Rosario and second baseman Dilson Herrera for the World Team, and first baseman Dominic Smith will play for Team USA.

Since his recent promotion to Double-A Binghamton, Amed Rosario is hitting .424 (25-59) with five doubles, three triples, 12 RBI and a .462 OBP in 16 games. Previously, Rosario was shining at the Florida State League where he batted .309 with 10 doubles, three homers and 40 RBI in 66 games with High-A St. Lucie. Initially lauded by scouts for his slick gold glove caliber defense at shortstop, Rosario now has them buzzing because of his bat. He ranks No. 2 among Mets prospects.

Currently the No. 1 ranked Mets prospect, Dominic Smith is hitting .277 with 17 doubles, 10 home runs, 59 RBI and a .340 OBP in 83 games for Double-A Binghamton. He is finally starting to exhibit the power many scouts envisioned when the Mets selected him in the first round of the 2013 Draft. Smith has really hit his stride since his breakout season in 2015 when he won the Florida State League MVP Award.

Often forgotten because he lost his rookie eligibility, second base prospect Dilson Herrera is still only 22 and quietly having himself a solid season at Triple-A Las Vegas. Herrera is batting .274 with 23 doubles, 12 homers, 51 RBI and 55 runs scored for Las Vegas with a .477 slugging percentage. He is expected to be the regular Mets second baseman come Opening Day in 2017.

Tune in tonight and watch the future of the Mets take the field and strut their stuff.
