It really is a cold world out there.
After notching the first hit of his career in the critical 12th inning for the Mets Friday night, Jake Hager was designated for assignment Saturday to make room for Jordan Yamamoto on the 26-man active roster.
Yamamoto, who pitched for the Marlins in 2019 and 2020, will be available out of the bullpen Saturday while Joey Lucchesi will get the start against the Fish.
In addition to these roster moves, Stephen Tarpley was activated from the COVID-19 injured list and will remain with Triple-A Syracuse.
Lastly, some news on guys recently DFA’d by the Mets: Deivy Gullrón was re-claimed by the Tampa Bay Rays and Daniel Zamora was claimed by the Seattle Mariners, because of course they put a claim on a Met.
Former Mets now in the Mariners organization:
Ty Kelly
Justin Dunn
Chris Flexen
Rafael Montero
Paul Sewald
Daniel Zamora
Eric Campbell
Sam Haggerty
Jarred Kelenic
Jack Reinheimer
Adam Hill
Brooks Pounders

This is the world of the Mets when they have 16 players, most of them short-term injuries, on the injured list. In a bit of good injury news, though, Luis Rojas said they expect J.D. Davis back on Monday or Tuesday during the Colorado Rockies series. Jacob deGrom may start Tuesday’s game, as well.
Though Lucchesi is starting today, the team will likely use a barrage of pitchers to get through today’s game. They’ll likely have to do the same Sunday.
Here is the lineup for Saturday’s game with Lucchesi on the mound. José Peraza, who was hit by a pitch Friday, is available off the bench, but Wilfredo Tovar takes his place in the starting lineup. Khalil Lee also joins the lineup after Hager was DFA’d.
