According to Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times, former Mets outfielder Curtis Granderson has been left off the Dodgers World Series roster. In addition to Granderson, the Dodgers will also be removing Kyle Farmer from the roster and adding Corey Seager and Brandon McCarthy.
The decision also means Charlie Culberson will remain on the roster. Culberson was added to the NLCS roster due to a Seager back injury. With Seager being able to rejoin the roster, Culberson likely presents an insurance option in the event Seager goes back down with injury.
Unfortunately, Granderson put himself in jeopardy of being removed from the roster with his struggles as a Dodger. After hitting .161/.288/.366 in 36 games with the Dodgers, he struggled in the postseason. Between the NLDS and NLCS, Granderson was a combined 1-15 with eight strikeouts.
Granderson being off the roster means the Dodgers are leaving off one of the two players on their roster who have World Series experience. The other is infielder Chase Utley, who has not gotten a hit in his last 21 postseason at-bats.
The last time Granderson appeared in the World Series was in 2015 with the Mets. In that series, Granderson hit .250/.360/.700 with three homers and five RBI. All three homers Granderson hit in that series gave the Mets the lead.
With Granderson being left off the World Series roster, this leaves Carlos Beltran and Justin Turner as the only former Mets who will participate in the 2017 World Series.
