On Saturday, the New York Mets placed reliever Mychal Givens on the 15-day injured list. The club also reinstated reliever Stephen Nogosek from the 15-day injured list. Nogosek will be on the roster for tonight’s game.

Givens has pitched to a 5.03 ERA since arriving in Queens. However, in his last 15 games, Givens is pitching to a 2.65 ERA in 17 innings while striking out 20 and walking five.

Nogosek returns to the Mets, having last pitched on August 20 against the Philadelphia Phillies. Nogosek went 1 2/3 IP in that appearance, striking out two and allowing zero runs.

On the season, Nogosek is pitching to a 2.79 ERA in 19 1/3 IP while striking out 15 and walking seven.

Nogosek has pitched in Syracuse for most of the year but will be available tonight to provide the Mets with additional depth in the bullpen, a bullpen that saw closer Edwin Díaz record five outs last night against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Updates on Injured Mets

Mets manager Buck Showalter also provided an update on some injured Mets as MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo reports ace Max Scherzer is “on the board” to start Monday night against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Newsday’s Tim Healey also confirms that pitcher Tylor Megill will be activated from the injured list Monday night.

Healey also reports that outfielder Starling Marte is still feeling pain in his fractured middle finger but hopes to return before the regular season ends.

We will provide more updates as information as it comes in.
